Windows 10 Mobile Software update page is now live

It’s for Lumia phones, obviously, but Microsoft has put up the software update page for Windows 10 Mobile that will allow users to check the availability of this new version.

For their handsets, that is.

Suffice to say, this is as clear a sign as any that the launch of the mobile OS is nearing fast. If anything, judging by the events of the last two weeks, Windows 10 Mobile is right around the corner — practically speaking, of course.

The update will still be a staged rollout, one that arrives for all users gradually.

But if you have been wondering how much you will have to wait for your smartphone to receive the promised upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, then this is just the website for you. Owners of Lumia phones can check for availability on their devices, regardless of where they are.

The Software update for Lumia with Windows 10 webpage basically contains information on which smartphones can be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile and when.

Apart from that, Microsoft is also using this avenue to answer any FAQs and questions that Windows Phone fans have to smoothly upgrade their devices.

As the company states:

“Your phone supports wireless Over the Air (OTA) updates and there is no need for cables or a computer; you can simply download and install the update using your phone. Also, your settings, apps, photos, and text messages remain safe and sound.”

When the update is available for download, Windows Phone users will be notified on their phones. They can also check for Windows 10 Mobile by going to Settings / Update & security / Phone update and Check for updates.

Microsoft has already listed which Lumias will get the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade first, but this is very likely to vary between countries and carriers, and not all these phones will get the update on day one.

Expect the company to fill up this website with details of the rollout as they become available for download.
