#Windows Redstone Preview Builds Incoming, #Microsoft Confirms

Redstone Development
It’s a prep thing, in the casual words of Gabriel Aul, the Windows Inside boss. All eyes are now on Windows 10 Redstone, the next big update for the operating system.
Surely, now that Windows 10 Threshold 2 is available for everyone on the planet.
Or rather, the people that have already upgraded to the latest version of Microsoft’s OS.
The company is ready to shift attention towards Redstone, which is a codename for the next refresh of the platform, due out in two waves, in 2016. And although Redmond has not publicly acknowledged the Redstone project, the company has bene making some moves.
We have seen signs and we have seen signs — and now we have some official confirmation.
The software titan has begun changing the release branch for users participating in the Windows Insider Program to rs1_release, believed to be the first wave of updates under this codename.
Computers that have been switched to this branch will soon start seeing fresh new builds.
Gabriel Aul, the one who oversees the preview program, confirmed on Twitter that this is a prep thing, there’s nothing to see here at the moment.
In other words, the software titan is yet to decide when to push the very first Redstone preview build to Insiders, though it is making the first steps towards this moment and getting computers and installations ready for these new versions.
According to hearsay, Redstone is supposed to be the actual first major upgrade for Windows 10, one that is much more significant than Threshold 2 in terms of new features and options, including things like extension support for the Edge web browser.
The winds have changed, folks.
Brace for some Redstone fun!
