Shift5+ Phone Runs Both #Android And #Windows 10 Mobile

But will people buy it? That be the question! Shift5+ is an odd name for a phone, but odder still is the fact that it is running both Android and Windows 10 Mobile.

And while the idea of a dual boot phone has been thrown around for years now, there were doubts whether we will see such a device.

A German company by the name of Shift has taken the initiative, announcing a smartphone that will ship with both Android and Windows 10 Mobile. However, the company does not seem to be confident that consumers really want it.

That is because while the preorders kick off in December, sales will actually only start in the third quarter of 2016.

Wow.

The price is high too, when you think about it. A special promotion gets you the Shift5+ for €399, but it will cost €444 when it goes on sale. And since the launch is still more than half a year away, full details regarding the specifications are not with us right now.

It’s still a premium device, mind you.

Said to feature a quad-core or hexa-core Snapdragon chip — which might be high-end now, but will surly end up being midrange by the time the handset launch next year. And unless the price changes, the appeal of this device will surely diminish over time.

And whether Shift is able to promise that Google services will be offered on the Android side of things is another matter of concern.

Hard to see what kind of response this dual boot smartphone gets from consumers.

What do you guys think of it?
